Detailing My Module By: Bob Middlebrooks
There are all kinds of articles and videos on how to make your own trees. The method I chose is a variation of the old floral wire trees. Using twist ties out of a role(under $5.00) you can make a large number of different size trees. When I get the tree twisted to the shape I want I add a piece of floral tape to the trunk. Put a dab of white glue at the bottom and roll it up the trunk of the tree in the opposite direction that the twist tie is rolled. Cut and glue the tape when you get to the first branches of the tree. When the glue dries, paint the tree your bark color. I am going with various shades of grey. Some of the first ones I did can be seen in the photos. I used too much brown on those ones and I am going to over paint them before they go on the module. To add the foliage I cover the branches with full strength white glue and add a layer of green. When that has dried, I use extra hold hair spray and ground foam until I get the look I want. These will now be set aside until it is time to add them to the module.
